Today the world's largest steelmaker, Arcelor Mittal announced that its third quarter net profit to 1.35 billion
U.S. dollars, higher than last year's 903 million U.S. Dollars, an increase of nearly 50%. The third quarter tax profit before interest and depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) was 2.27 billion U.S. dollars, higher than the same period last year by 1.59 billion U.S. dollars, but lower than the second quarter by 3 billion dollars.
Third quarter’s output is 21 million tons, an increase of 15.4%, compared with output of 18.2 million tons in last year. Capacity utilization in the third quarter from the second quarter fell 78% to 71%. The company expects fourth-quarter capacity utilization will be at the same level as the third quarter.
Arcelor Mittal said that the situation in the fourth quarter will be more difficult, expected prices to fall, demand will remain weak, the outlook remains cautious.
