POSCO, Hyundai Steel Plate manufacturers forecast that the South Korea's demand for heavy plate will
increase next year. Pohang Iron and Steel Plate forecasts demand is 12.5 million tons next year, an increase of 50
million tons compared with this year, Hyundai Steel forecasts 13 million tons, an increase of 100 million tons
compared with this year. They all think next Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine have
increased the amount of construction. However, Pohang Iron and Steel Institute of Management (POSRI) recently
published a report forecasting that next year's apparent consumption of thick 10,710,000 tons, down 2.4%. POSCO
said this, "the original forecast is that demand will reduce next year, but recent research on the needs of industries,
the results of the construction of shipbuilding manufacturers will increase next year."
