Under steel standard ASTM A517/A517M,high yield strength steel plate A517 Grade A and A517 Grade B are mainly 

used for manufacturing pressure vessels and tanks.For improving steel property and using in special surroundings,

steel grade A517 Grade A and A517 Grade B both contain some alloy elements,such as Copper,Molybdenum,

Chromlum and so on.Both these two high tensile strength steel grades A517 Grade A and A517 Grade B has owned 

minimum yield strength at 690 Mpa for the thickness belows 65mm.For the thickness above 65mm,the value shall 

be above 620 Mpa.

Pressure vessel steel plates A517 Grade A and A517 Grade B have to be done heat treament as Quenched and 

Tempered after production,and Ultrasonic examation should be done according to ASTM A435/A435M or 

A578/A578M or A577/A577M.The end user should indicate clearly which level do they need for UT in their 

purchase order.For the additional tehcnical requirements,the temperature of Charpy V_notch impacting test shall be 

agreeed up between the manufacturer and the purchaser,but shall not be higher than zero centi degree.
